Best Dill Pickles

  • 1 qt. vinegar, white
  • 3 qts. water
  • 1 c. canning salt
  • cucumbers
  • cloves of garlic
  • sprigs of fresh dill
  • alum
  • hot pepper
     
 
Heat vinegar, water and canning salt to a boil. Place cucumbers in clean, sterile jars. Place a clove of garlic, sprig of fresh dill, 1/2 teaspoon of alum, and hot pepper in bottom of jar. Fill with hot solution and seal.
