Funds raised support: Funds raised support the Georgia Sea Turtle Center, the first public education center, rehabilitation and research facility in Georgia for Sea Turtles. For more than twenty years the Sea Turtle Project has been working with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to study and help sustain the island's Loggerhead Sea Turtle population. The historic 1903 Power Plant in Jekyll Island's National Historic Landmark District is the site of the new Georgia Sea Turtle Center. The Center is open year-round. Nightly turtle walks depart from the Center during the nesting season. The Sea Turtle Project's new home is the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, georgiaseaturtlecenter.org. The Center includes educational exhibits, surgical and rehabilitation areas, an information center and a gift shop. The Center chronicles the history of sea turtles from the age of the dinosaurs to the present. Video feeds allow visitors a glimpse into restricted zones to see the turtles' rehabilitative care.
