Special Features: The schoolhouse quilt cover is a full-color custom design based on our 2012 Opportunity Quilt "Readin', Writin' & 'Rithmetic". Members were asked to photograph their favorite quilt at a recognizable site in Asheville and surrounding areas. The photographs are used as full-color custom dividers. Each divider has the quilt name, maker and a description of the location where photograph was taken. A full page is dedicated to teachers and speakers indicating date and description of lectures and classes during their visit to Asheville Quilt Guild.
Description: A collection of 280 delicious recipes from Asheville Quilt Guild members and national & international quilt teachers/speakers; i.e., Georgia Bonesteel (aqg member), Sharyn Craig, Flavin Glover, Nancy Prince, Mary Stori (aqg member) - just to name a few...there are many helpful and interesting quilting tips throughout the cookbook.
Funds raised support: One of the goals of the Guild is to advance, preserve, and educate the art of quilting for its members and community. Members work diligently to make and donate quilts to numerous organizations such as Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, preemie quilts for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Mission Hospital, Home of the Brave quilts, critter quilts for Asheville Humane Society, quilts for nursing homes, and wherever else there is a need. Favorite Recipe
Maple Walnut Fudge

- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 c. miniature marshmallow
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. Nestle white morsels
- 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
- 1 1/2 tsp. maple flavored extract
- 50 walnut halves or pieces
Line a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with foil. Combine butter, evaporated milk, sugar, and salt in a medium heavy-duty saucepan. Bring to a full rolling boil, stirring constantly, over medium heat. Boil, stirring constantly, for 4 1/2 - 5 minutes. Remove from heat. stir in marshmallows, morsels, nuts, and maple flavoring. Stir vigorously for 1 minute or until marshmallows are melted. Pour into prepared pan. On top of fudge, place nut halves in rows spacing about 1/2-inch apart. Press into fudge; refrigerate until firm. Cut into squares with 1 nut half per square. |
