Bacon Buns (Lasinieciai)
By: Dale Gotceitas

  • 2 pkgs. Hot Roll Mix
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 1/2 lb. cooked ham, minced
  • 2 lg. onions, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp. milk

Follow directions on Hot Roll Mix package. Add 1 tsp.sugar to each package. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk--about 2 hours. When risen once, punch down with fist and let rise again. While dough is rising prepare filling. Cut bacon into small pieces and fry until almost crisp; drain and put aside. In the same pan place the chopped onion and saute until soft; drain any liquid and mix with bacon. Saute ground pork until cooked; drain and mix with bacon. Add ham and mix everything together. Add seasoning to taste. Cool mixture in refrigerator. Flour lightly working space; pinch off a small size (ping-pong) ball, flatten into round pancake; fill with a rounded tsp. full of meat filling. Fold sides of circle over bacon mixture and pinch completely closed. Place pinched side down on lightly greased cookie sheet. When cookie sheet is filled brush each roll with mixture of egg and milk. Bake in 375° F. oven for 20 - 25 minutes. Serve rolls warm, hot, or cold. May freeze buns and then reheat covered at 300°F.
