Family reunion rolls

- 2/3 C. warm water
- 2 T. dry yeast
- 2/3 C. milk, scalded
- 2/3 C sugar
- 2/3C butter
- 1tsp. salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 6 3/4 C flour
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Scald milk in a sauce pan. In a large bowl put sugar, salt, and butter. Add warm milk. Stir all together well. Place warm water in a small bowl, sprinkle yeast over and stir to blend. When softened, add to milk mixture. Stir in nutmeg and then add flour. Mix well and turn dough onto floured board. Knead dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Oil large bowl and put dough in it. Oil top lightly. Cover and let rise till doubled in bulk. Punch dough down. Roll out 1/3 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch circles with doughnut cutter, then with a knife press a line across circle slightly off center. Fold smaller half over larger half, press together. Place on a greased cookie/baking sheet , leave room for them to rise. Let rise untill doubled. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool on towel, ready to serve or freeze |
