Maple Nut Chiffon Cake

- 1/4 cup + 2 T white sugar
- 1/4 cup + 2 T brown sugar
- 1 1/4 c. of self-rising flour
- 5 lg eggs, separated
- 1/2 c. cooking oil
- 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
- 1 tsp. maple flavoring
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 c. chopped nuts
Sift sugars and flour together. Make hole in middle. Pour in egg yolks, oil, flavorings and water. Beat together until smooth. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar together until very stiff. Fold into flour mixture. Do not beat. Fold in nuts. Pour into ungreased tube pan. Bake for 55 minutes at 325 degrees. Remove from oven. Turn upside down immediately to cool. Serves 15 - 20. |
