Homemade Macaroni & Cheese

- 1 lb. box casserole elbows
- 1 1/4 lb. white American cheese
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 stick margarine
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350. In a large pan, heat milk, salt and pepper until hot (not boiling). Melt in cheese, one slice at a time, stirring constantly. Cook and drain elbows at the same time. Melt margarine and add flour to thicken. Add to milk mixture and stir until creamy. Pour over coooked elbows that have been placed in buttered casserole dish. Place a few slices of cheese on top and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake for 30 minutes. |
